Some adults may think back to their pre-school finger painting days and remember a few catch phrases that were designed to help learn/remember various color combinations. For example yellow and blue made green. When it comes to Chakras, yellow and blue don't necessarily make green, but the phrase did help me remember that the yellow and the blue Chakras were above and below the green, so that there was yellow and blue and the green was in between. The 7 Chakras are located at different points on the spinal column and are represented by the colors of the rainbow. You may remember a mnemonic device that helped you to recall these colors as a child as well, ROYGBIV. Each chakra is a vortex of energy that serves to maintain spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical balance in an individual. Each individual Chakra is connected to a different body organ, and If either should become out of balance, it is said that the life energy or QI is then disturbed.
The green Chakra specifically represents the heart center and is located between the yellow Solar Plexus Chakra and the Blue throat Chakra. Another connection that ones to mind is how beneficial green vegetables are when it comes to heart health. Green Vegetables or more specifically, leafy green veggies such as kale, spinach, and cabbage are rich in antioxidants and aid cardiovascular health by facilitating heart rate strengthening, decreased risk of heart attack and stroke, and increasing overall lifespan by providing access to necessary nutrients such as Magnesium, Potassium, Iron, and Protein.
The heart is a muscle and needs regular exercise just as the other 88 muscles do. It is important, especially during these trying times that even if indoors, our exercise routines need to be maintained. A combination of Cardio and strength training at least three times per week if possible.
In addition to your exercise routine, and incorporation of green vegetables into your diet, efforts to ensure that your heart Chakra is in balance should include remaining in an energy of love of self and others, random acts of kindness, and remaining in a space of gratitude just to name a few.
Until next time, when we discuss the other Chakras, stay well and remember what it means to be Green!!
Much Love and Light!
